Salesforce.com announces retirement of CFO Steve Cakebread

Salesforce.com, Inc. announced the retirement of executive vice president / chief financial officer Steve Cakebread. Cakebread will stay with the company through December 2005 and will reportedly work closely with CEO Marc Benioff and the board of directors in the search for a replacement.

Steve Cakebread joined salesforce.com as the company’s chief financial officer last year, and will retire with more than twenty-six years’ experience in the financial industry. Benioff had been Cakebread’s manager, with Cakebread responsible for overseeing saleforce.com global financial initiatives.

Previous to Salesforce, Cakebread worked at Autodesk, where he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer and was responsible for accounting and corporate finance functions, strategic information technology Systems and business development; at Silicon Graphics World Trade, where he served as vice president of finance; and Hewlett Packard, at which most of his curriculum vitae was built. Cakebread holds a BS from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Indiana University.
