Telenor Serbia Deploys Amdocs OSS as Part of Next-Generation Network Transformation

Telenor Serbia gains a single view of its network assets through improved management of network resources and accurate planning

ST. LOUIS (June 23, 2011) – Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems, today announced that Telenor Serbia with help of local partner, S&T Serbia, has deployed Amdocs OSS (operational support systems) as the inventory and planning system to support the first phase of its OSS transformation project. Telenor Serbia’s OSS transformation project is designed to enable the mobile operator to deploy and manage an all-IP next-generation network (NGN) that will offer new services to its 3.059 million subscribers. The announcement was made in conjunction with Amdocs’ Asia Pacific InTouch Business Forum, the company’s annual customer and partner event taking place in Singapore this week.

“The movement to a NGN is required for us to meet market demands and remain competitive.  We needed a system that enables us to rapidly deploy new services while controlling costs,” said Oystein Mikkelsen, chief technology officer for Telenor Serbia.  ”Amdocs’ solution will give us an accurate model of our network and resources, and provide us with network trend and capacity usage data.  As a result, we will be able to realize resource efficiency by deploying new resources ‘just in time’, and reduce time to market by automating our planning and fulfillment processes.”

The Amdocs OSS software will give Telenor Serbia a single view of its network, providing one source of service and inventory data to support all operational processes of planning, fulfillment and assurance.  This will enable the mobile operator to reduce costs and increase effectiveness by providing accurate and consistent data.  The solution’s planning management functionality enables Telenor Serbia to reserve resources now for future deployment, create multiple plans, and run “what-if” scenarios to identify the more efficient plans. This can reduce Telenor Serbia’s operational and capital costs as it adds capacity only when and where it is needed.

The Amdocs OSS software was successfully implemented by Serbian local partner, S&T Serbia.

Amdocs OSS has also been deployed in Telenor Sweden.
