Bid to take over world and crush Superman disguised as independent Sage CRM community website

Lexnet Consulting Group president Steve Chipman today launched a neat little website designed for “the Sage CRM Community.” (Cue music: “We are Family” by Sister Sledge!)

Aptly, therefore, located at www.sagecrmcommunity.com, the ‘site carries a mission statement to be a resource for buyers, resellers, and technology partners to find information about customer relationship management and correspond with other interested parties.

Chipman and co. want it known that the site is in fact independent of Sage Software. (It’s true. It says so. The very first words on the homepage go “Welcome to the Sage CRM community site. This site — which is independent of Sage Software — is a place for Sage CRM customers, potential customers, resellers, technology partners and anyone else to learn more about Sage CRM and how it can benefit their business…”)

The site will host topical forums, a “community blog,” news feeds and whitepapers which are available to visitors. The blog – because, hey, let’s face it, we’re all blog junkies these days, eh? – begins with a reasonable entry with a philosophicazen question on CRM: “CRM – A Technology or a Strategy?” Now there’s a query worthy of a dude with a BA in Philosophy.

The entry begins “When most people mention the acronym ‘CRM,’ they are referring to database software or a Web application for managing sales, marketing and/or customer support. However, many articles on various industry sites definitively state that CRM is a strategy and not a technology. So, what is CRM, a technology or a strategy?”

Unfortunately, what seems to be an interesting topic for a debate is answered quickly and lamely: “The answer, of course, is it’s a little of both.” Argh. Now where’s the sport in that?

Said Steve Chipman of Lexnet (Seriously, isn’t that a subsidiary of evil megacorporation Lexcorp? Should we call in the Justice League or something…?),

“The new site will offer visitors increased insight into CRM packages and discover the possibilities that a CRM can bring to their organization.”

“CRM – A Technology or a Strategy” and other Sage CRM Community blog entries can be read at Mr. Chipman’s ‘site.
