American Dream alive and well in Nashville

For believers in the American dream, there’s a must-read story over at the Nashville City Paper’s online edition. Writer Amy Griffith profiles Rajeev and Reena Gupta, a married couple from India who originally came to the land of country music to go to university. Instead, the Guptas ultimately founded an IT solutions consulting firm called Avankia LLC which was good for $2.5 million in revenue for 2006 – not bad for four years’ worth of work. Today, Avankia employs forty between the Nashville, Silicon Valley and Bangalore, India, offices.

Reports Griffith: “Cornerstones of the company’s services include enabling companies to adopt on-demand software service applications.” Most recently, Avankia CRM systems are comprised purely of SalesForce.com product and, goes the story, Avankia was made one of the first ten companies incubated by SalesForce.com.

The American Dream lived? Indeed. The Guptas today claim they’d like to be “the Wal-Mart of high-tech companies.”
