Two new offerings for Leaders

Representatives of all-important consulting firm Gartner, Inc. have announced two new offerings within the Gartner for IT Leaders product suite, entitled “Application Management” and “Business Process Improvement.”

Gartner for IT Leaders seeks to align an IT leader’s specific job-related challenges with the appropriate Gartner analysts and insight, and connects clients to IT peers who share common business and technology issues. The Application Management offering is targeted to IT leaders with responsibility for application management, development, analysis, integration or enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, and workplace integration / project managers.

The Business Process Improvement offering is targeted for IT leaders responsible for relationship management with line of business leaders and championing process orientation to achieve operational excellence, with responsibilities for business process modeling, analysis, design, implementation and optimization. According to Gartner PR, business process improvement initiatives can transform the way an organization works, but the impact for most organizations is daunting.

The new offerings are promised to help clients manage business process improvement more easily. The two new offerings bring the Gartner’s total to eight role-based offerings: February saw the release of “Security and Risk Management” and “IT Infrastructure and Operations,” while in May, Gartner released “Business Intelligence and Information Management,” “Sourcing and Vendor Relationships” and “Enterprise Architecture.”

Gartner began its line of role-based offerings in 2005 with Gartner EXP, specifically designed for chief information officers. In 2007, Gartner plans to offer role-based access and products designed specifically for technology and service providers. Stamford, Conn.-based Gartner, Inc. is a combination of four branches devoted to the gathering and analyzing of “technology-related insight”: Gartner Research, Gartner Executive Programs, Gartner Consulting and Gartner Events. Founded in 1979, Gartner now has 3,900 associates (including 1,200 research analysts and consultants) in 75 countries worldwide and serves 10,000 organizations.
