Big Machines and no. 23

It’s good to see BigMachines is back in the news. For the Chump, the only thing better than getting to report serious business news with the words “Big” and “Machines” is the wonderful surprise entrance into a rather typical “big sale in salesforce.com’s house”-type story of a living legend. To wit:

BigMachines, Inc., a provider of on-demand configuration and quoting software, announced today that NTT America, a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporations, has selected the BigMachines Lean Front-End (seriously, these guys come up with the best names) platform. Specifically, NTT America’s Enterprise Hosting Division will leverage the BigMachines LFE Configuration, Pricing and Proposal solution to integrate the company’s configuration, quote and contract processes with salesforce.com.

"We were looking for a configuration, quote and contract tool that has the flexibility of traditional on-premise software without the headaches," said Michael Jordan, Director of Sales Operations at NTT America’s Enterprise Hosting Business Unit. That’s right, Michael Jordan. Is this what he’s been doing in his retirement? Boy, i bet he never hears that joke, eh? Anyway, Jordanesquely, Jordan goes on to state that "BigMachines delivers on both counts and easily integrates with salesforce.com. Everyone from sales to finance is looking forward to deploying BigMachines." Smooth.

BigMachines CPP will be tightly integrated with NTT America’s salesforce.com CRM solution. This feature seeks to assist NTT America in extending its current CRM functionality to automatically populate opportunity values from the configuration and quoting process. Jordan…for three!

NTT America is the U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications, the global data and IP services arm of the Fortune Global 500 telecom firm Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corporation. NTT America provides enterprise hosting, network, and IP networking for global enterprises and service providers.

Founded in 1999, BigMachines, Inc. provides web-based configuration and quoting software and services to help companies streamline sales processes. BigMachines Lean Front-End solution digitizes selling processes and captures an organization’s tribal knowledge to provide online product selection, configurator, quoting, and ordering capabilities for new products and aftermarket parts. BigMachines LFE provides reporting capabilities and integrates to existing ERP, CAD, and CRM systems.
