In 2009, Mothernode released their pilot SaaS product, Mothernode ERP, to small and medium sized businesses that were in need of a unified business solution. Mothernode ERP included CRM and SFA capabilities along with inventory management, order management, invoicing and vendor management. The product still touts itself as an ideal solution for customers who are looking to streamline business operations or who are impeded by operational limitations of QuickBooks or Peachtree.

While Mothernode has seen much success with their ERP, it was clear there was another market for customers that were looking for a fraction of the identical capabilities available in the ERP that were exclusive to CRM and SFA. This prompted Mothernode to deliver its second product of the same series, Mothernode CRM. Mothernode’s CRM product brings the entire customer management and sales capabilities of the ERP, packaging them as a complete SaaS CRM solution for SMBs. Because Mothernode CRM is a lighter version of the larger application, customers can convert to the full ERP solution at anytime without absolutely no effort. ERPs and CRMs service two distinct markets and audiences. ERPs provide a total end-to-end solution for businesses, while CRMs (with SFA) provide a solution for a component or pocket of users in the business. The ability to offer both expands Mothernode’s customer base and gives CRM users a larger product to grow into should they need it one day.
