SugarCRM Names Chris Bucholtz as Editor-in-Chief of CRM Outsiders

CUPERTINO, Calif. (May 18, 2011) – SugarCRM, the world’s fastest growing customer relationship management (CRM) company, today announced it has added journalist, blogger and CRM influencer Chris Bucholtz to its team.

Bucholtz, who will become Editor-in-Chief of CRM Outsiders (www.crmoutsiders.com), has 17 years of experience as a technology journalist. In 2007, he became the first editor of InsideCRM (www.insidecrm.com) and followed that up by launching Forecasting Clouds (www.forecastingclouds.com) in 2009. Both sites were aimed at providing what Bucholtz calls “advocacy journalism for users.”

As Editor-in-Chief, Bucholtz will be the voice of CRM Outsiders, the fourth most influential CRM blog in the world, according to a recent study. (http://www.forecastingclouds.com/articles/97494/the-top-20-crm-blogs-of-2010/). Bucholtz will continue the CRM Outsiders tradition of being an independent CRM advisor, who provides trusted and useful content to the market. He will use his extensive network to encourage other CRM visionaries to post regularly on CRM Outsiders.

“One of the things that made CRM Outsiders such a success with readers was the fact that it told stories and offered objective advice, rather than relying on market speak and pushing veiled sales pitches in a social media format,” said Martin Schneider, Vice President of Marketing at Basho Technologies and former chief contributor and editor of CRM Outsiders. “I truly believe that Chris’ talents will not only allow CRM Outsiders to continue on that path, but actually bring Outsiders to new heights given his exceptional talent and experience as a trusted expert in all things CRM. This is truly a great addition to the SugarCRM team.”

“We’re extremely excited to have Chris join our team,” says Nick Halsey, CMO and EVP Corporate Development of SugarCRM. “Chris has great credibility in the analyst and blogging community. For that reason he will also handle our analyst relations in addition to being Editor-in-Chief of CRM Outsiders. Chris will be a great asset to SugarCRM as he will continue to educate the market on why companies worldwide should work on a comprehensive CRM and social CRM strategy.”

“I always try to put myself in the users’ shoes,” Bucholtz says. “There’s a natural tendency for writers to slip into the language of the technology, but that’s not always the best way to write for people who are running a business first and thinking about technology second. I try to remain focused primarily on the user’s problems, and how technology solves them, then talk about the technology itself.”

That approach informs his thinking around social CRM, a frequent topic in his weekly column for CRM Buyer (www.crmbuyer.com). “Social CRM is a huge challenge, because the avenues for customer input are no longer limited in number and controlled by the business,” he says. “That’s created a lot of confusion
