SugarCRM Enhances Platform Edition; adds Customization Capabilities to Sugar 6

Enhancements to Sugar Logic, Support for Oracle 11g and Easier Cloud Deployment Options Highlight Platform Additions to Sugar 6

SAN FRANCISCO (April 06, 2011) – SugarCRM, the world’s fastest growing customer relationship management (CRM) company, today announced new platform additions to Sugar 6, the most flexible, intuitive and open CRM platform on the market. The latest platform enhancements include support for simpler customization, wider database support, greater support for cloud-based deployments and eight new language editions of Sugar 6. The announcements were made here at SugarCon, the company’s annual customer, partner and developer conference.

“Sugar 6 empowers our developer and partner networks to build new and innovative solutions on top of the world’s most flexible and scalable platform,” said Clint Oram, co-founder and CTO of SugarCRM. “From the smallest business seeking a fast, cost-effective cloud solution, to the largest enterprises seeking deeply customizable applications, Sugar 6 meets modern business issues without needless complexity or hidden cost.”

Simple, Powerful Customization

Following the debut of Sugar Logic this past fall, the latest release of Sugar 6 includes updates to Sugar Logic that simplify the customization process, yet provide developers and administrators with powerful new tools for building process-centric applications in Sugar 6. New additions to the Calculated Fields capabilities offers support for Date and Date/Time fields and functions. For example, administrators can now calculate follow-up and due dates for critical activities such as product registration, contract expiration, etc.

Sugar Logic has also been enhanced to include support for Dependent Fields inside Sugar 6. This enables developers and administrators to build custom processes that expose or hide information based on existing or custom formulas in the system. These new capabilities further meet the unique needs of SugarCRM’s rapidly expanding OEM partner base, leveraging these features in Sugar Platform Edition to build dynamic, process-driven application experiences inside their Sugar-powered solutions.

Support for Global Deployments

Used by more than 65,000 organizations around the globe, Sugar 6 will include native language support for 22 languages. Newly supported languages include: Czech, English-UK, Estonian, Hebrew, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish and Turkish.

Included in the new global capabilities is support for right-to-left languages, allowing for Hebrew and Arabic language support. Also, enhancements to the administration features of the Sugar platform make it easier for administrators to set which included languages are available to users, and setting preferred language remains as easy as clicking the mouse.

Supporting Cloud and Enterprise Deployments

Sugar 6 has also been enhanced to include support for the Oracle 11g Database. This improvement to the platform comes as a direct result of greater use of Sugar by larger enterprises leveraging the power and scale of Oracle solutions.

In addition, SugarCRM has worked with BitNami to offer users the ability to quickly provision Sugar 6 Professional or Enterprise Edition instances in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Platform. Sugar 6 is now part of the solutions included in BitNami Cloud Hosting, which simplifies the process of running applications on the AWS Platform.

“The Amazon Web Services Platform is a powerful and scalable computing environment, perfect for running web applications like Sugar 6,” said Erica Brescia, CEO of BitRock, the company that develops BitNami Cloud Hosting. “The combination of AWS, BitNami and SugarCRM offers organizations a highly cost-effective yet scalable and stable platform upon which to host and build their CRM solutions.”

SugarCRM has also announced greater support for IBM system-i users. IBM i Solution Edition for SugarCRM, is a new fully integrated solution that offers customers more control over their data, ability to leverage their existing IBM investments when building flexible, intuitive and open CRM solutions. IBM i Solution Edition for SugarCRM combines the highly available IBM i® operating system and IBM POWER7® processor-based Power Systems servers with SugarCRM software to help reduce the cost, complexity and risk of deploying a modern CRM solution.
