Costa Rica’s ICE Selects Amdocs Network Planning Solution

Amdocs OSS software enables “just-in-time” planning, reducing capital and operating expenditure by ensuring new resources deployed only when needed

ST. LOUIS (October 25, 2010) – Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems, today announced that Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), Costa Rica’s national service provider of energy and telecommunications, has selected the Amdocs network planning solution to help further its goal of becoming a world-class agile operator.

The solution is designed to plan and roll out a “service-ready network” so as to avoid capacity shortfalls or network overbuilds. The “just-in-time” planning  process helps reduce capital and operating expenditure by deploying new resources only when needed. The solution’s planning capabilities will allow ICE to capture multiple plans for current and future planned service updates and offerings. Capacity trending capabilities will allow the company to identify ahead of time when they will reach a certain threshold of network usage so that they can ascertain future capacity requirements and plan network resources accordingly.

By improving its network planning, ICE will be able to reduce the time needed to build out new networks in order to support new services, thereby speeding time to market for network-based services. The solution will also enhance ICE’s flexibility in meeting customer demand for network-based services and improve the customer experience.

Amdocs will work on this project together with a consortium which includes GBM, IBM and GE Smallworld. Amdocs operational support systems (OSS) already support ICE’s wireless and wireline networks.
